Bergen Museum of Art & Science Presents
The Museum is temporarily closed and undergoing change. We are no
longer located at the Bergen Mall. Our lease expired several months
ago and we recently found a new location at 6 Bridge Street,
Hackensack, NJ. This location is in the heart of the Main Street
Alliance redevelopment effort for downtown Hackensack. Although this
facility is smaller than our previous location, it will be a first
step in getting operational again and rebuilding the museum where we
can hold small exhibits and have student art classes, summer art camp,
science & math camp, chess classes, etc,. We will eventually need to
expand to larger accommodations to showcase our Mastodon collection
and our large collection of paintings, drawings and sculptures.
We now have a new Board of Directors
including a new President and Chairman of the Board, Dr. James
Waldron. We are currently looking to expand our Board of Directors and
are seeking highly qualified candidates to fulfill some of our vacant
positions, including a new curator. We have recently invited and
nominated a few new members to our Board of Trustees that are all
actively involved with the Hackensack Main Street Alliance. They are
Eric Anderson, Lauren Zisa and Gail Zisa.
Our next Board meeting takes place in
Hackensack on August 10, 2010
For a current list of our board members and tentative
members (to be elected at next board meeting), click on
Directors on the Main Menu in the left column.

Road Runner
Renowned
sculptor, Jim Gary, has lived and worked in New Jersey all of his
life. He grew up in Colts Neck and has always remained based in
central Jersey -- but the world became his market. Part of the Bergen
Museum collection included Mr. Gary's sculpture “road runner”. His
work is represented in the collections of many corporate,
institutional, and private collections.
Jim Gary has been featured on a myriad of domestic television programs
-- by Walter Cronkite, Public Broadcasting, Christopher Reeves, the
California Academy of Sciences, and many others.
Jim Gary is the recipient of numerous awards, including the N.J.
Governor's "Pioneer Award" and the New Jersey Educators Association
"Art Educator of the Year" on two different occasions.
What makes this dynamic artist so different? For one thing, he's a
"self made" artist who overcame his early indifference to education.
He shares with others his experiences on the journey from street
artist to world class traveling museum exhibitor. He challenges his
audience to 'see' things differently, to think and use the imagination
and most importantly perseverance. For more information, visit the
official web site for sculptor Jim Gary maintained by Kafi Benz:
